T4Wk1 - Coursework Deadlines

The Journal should include relevant research, observations and product ideas that you have captured in this project, and your evaluation of them. This should be concluded with how your product is supposed to resolve the problem that you are tackling, and your finalised product idea. It should preferably be done in Pages and should be able to explain sufficiently the processes involved in coming out with the final product.

Multi - Media Presentation Rubrics
Please refer to the multimedia presentation rubrics. You are to start preparing for the multi - media presentation during the 1 week Sept Holidays. Take note that the presentation should be self run with the necessary recording , music, animation or any other forms of suitable medium. The purpose of the multi media presentation is to convince the audience of the need of the product, the situations in which the product is designed to be used, most importantly how is the product being used in the situation/various situations. It is up to your creativity how you want to present your work. Keep the duration of your work between 1-3 minutes.

ii) Do you know the purpose of having the product?
iii) Does the presenter use a few sketches to explain how the idea works? e.g. for walking stick, sketches showing how the walking is opened or closed, if it is used to hang things, how is the product used to hang things? All these has to be demonstrated using sketches.
iv) Referring to the rubrics, tell the presenter how he would score for organization, subject knowledge and graphics.
The cycle continues with the next presenter.

After what have been discussed in class about Ergonomics and Anthropometry,
look at the Elderly Challenge Project that you are working on.
Ask yourself the following questions:

2) What is the product that you are designing?
3) What are the design considerations when designing products for the elderly?

Holiday work - Part 2: Deepening your learning experiences
As part of your research into understanding the elderly, you are tasked to also take video clips, photographs, or any other forms of recordable media to show how the elderly cope with their daily routines. These could include, but not necessarily limited to, every day activities such as: cooking a simple meal, pouring water from a flask, going to the market to buy groceries, going down the stairs, exercising, etc.
As a follow up, each one of you would do a podcast or a writeup of your observations and interviews with the elderly, caretaker, nurses or anyone who work with the elderly. Find out from them what are the problems that the elderly faces. Look for opportunities to observe and interview them such as at the senior citizens corners, void decks, hawker centers, etc.
Note that you are highly encouraged to select a range of elderly folks to observe so as to give you a broader perspective of them.
Submission:
You are to post your work on your personal ADMT blog every Wednesday of the week during the June holidays. (2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd June 2010). ADMT Lesson 1 Environment-Tor Ming En
Our selfish acts will, of course, bring about the Earth's doom. We have to start changing our attitude in order to prevent this from occurring. We should start to conserve our natural resources like trees, freshwater, etc. I think we can stop pollution by wasting lesser resources. We can also reuse, reduce and recycle everything. We can help save the Earth by cutting down on our wastage and protecting our pleasant environment. I think the main problem our planet is facing is the global warming. Most people understand that carbon dioxide and methane are the main gases that contribute to global warming. Since cows produce a lot of methane gas, we should cut down on beef, thus resulting in lesser cows which can potentially produce methane. We should also construct more environmental-friendly buildings that converts carbon dioxide to oxygen. |

ADMT Lesson 1 Environment - Ng Kai Chek
Recycle, recycle, and recycle. If we all do a small part, like turning the water off when we're brushing our teeth or clean out a jar of jelly and keep loose change in it or just turning off the lights in rooms that no one is in or maybe ridding a bike to school/work and if you're not a fan of biking, make a carpool with your friends! We can install efficient lighting ,recycle rain water and install solar panels and energy efficient roof and windows in the school and other buildings. We can also plant plants in buildings to purify the air and remove carbon dioxide.

In my opinion, human's selfish ways will destroy the Earth if they do not change. Their disrespect to mother Earth will cause everyone to lose Earth. So we all must try to do our part in saving Earth. We must also conserve our natural resources do further generations can use them. Human Being's selfish acts will surely bring about the Earth's doom. In order to save the Earth, we should not waste natural resources such as wood and paper by reducing the how much of these resources we use. We should also reuse precious resources such as water so we will not waste it. Lastly, we should also recycle items such as paper and aluminium cans so we can still use it again. By recycling, reusing, and reducing, we will be able to reduce the amount of pollution. This way, we will be able to prevent the Earth's doom.

ADMT Lesson 1 Environment- Loh Cheng Ngee
Yes, sooner or later, the Earth will fall thanks to the dominant species-humans. Clearing forests, leaving electrical appliances on and throwing litter into rivers leave the Earth with very little natural resources. Fossil fuels can only last us for another fifty years or even less, now that there are more cars on the road everyday. Moreover, many people know about the problem of global warming, but though they know it can kill in the long run, they are just not caring enough just to take one more step and recycle the things they use. Turning off electrical appliances at the main switch can save a lot of money and fossil fuels, switching to energy-saving bulbs will also help save energy.
